hey all, ive drove a ford f250 my whole life and just recently got a heck of a deal on a stock 2004 2500hd reg cab long bed and would like to spice it up a little bit but im not familiar with this truck at all. iv been searching the forum and FAQ for the past few days and want to run 33x12.50x17, mayb 33x13.50. my truck does not have a leveling kit but sits fairly level. from my understanding i can easily fit these, but my question is what kind of backspacing/offset do i need. im plannnig on getting new rims. mickey thompsons said i would need a positive offset. i would like the tires to stick out past the truck so what could i run.. thanks again for your responses, im very new to this whole dodge thing but im kinda starting to like it.

Welcome to DF.
Here is a wheel tech sheet for reference
Most guys run with 4.5" backspacing. That'll put you out 1.25" further out from stock and then add the difference in rubber on top of that. So, another 1" or so with 12.5" rubber. If aren't gonna get flares, I'd get 4.75", but you can prob get away with 5" but not with 13.5" rubber. That's a bit wide for daily driving IMO.

ok so it looks like most rims are 4.5 with around a -6 to -12 and the 5.5 backspace is about the same but positive. thanks for helpin me out guys i really appreciate it. so just to get this straight the smaller the number on the backspace the more they stck out? and is that the same with the offset too? im sorr this is so confusing to me.

personally i love the look when the tires stick out. on my ford they stuck out pretty far w/o fender flares and it looked badass and other ppl liked it too. the only thing is if u dont have flares it gets dirty as soon as u hit a gravel road or a dirty puddle.lol. not to mention if u have aggressive tires that like to fling rocks u will end up with some nice lil rock scratches

hey thanks guys, i'll let u know what i end up getting and post pics. one more thing tho, if i go from 17" to 18" would i have to deal with any electrical stuff as far as the bgger size throwing off readings? iv dealt with bigger tires, i had 37's on my old truck, but never got bigger rims. thanks again guys you r a life saver
