Key question & back seat question
My rear seats do the same thing. From what i read on other threads there is probably something jammed in the hinge or the hinge might be rusted. Most guys seem to fix the hinge with a big flat head screw driver.
This thread just inspired me to fix my back seats. Its hard to explain but i will try. There is a disc that is notched in the middle of the hinge for the seats which was stuck in place. Every time my seat tried to rotate up it would hit the disc. The disc should move freely. I took some wd40 and sprayed the disc and work it up and down for a few mins and it loosened up. FIXED! Hope this helps.
canadian, thnx.... when i get off of work tomorrow i am gonna tackle this.... it's not a real big deal to start w/ cause i don't know what i need under the seat for, but it's jus the principle of it......

if you have 2 programed keys, you can order transponder keys of the net or ebay. have your local hardware store cut the keys. then follow the manual to program the new transponder keys. very simple to do, but you must have 2 transponder keys to program any extras. you can program up to 8 keys. i've had to do this on my liberty, grand cherokee, and now my 07 ram. i got my keys for $15/ key, and that included shipping! my dealer charged me $200 for a remote key and programing. never again!!
that's about right... i bought a transponder key for 16 bucks and the dealership said they would program it for 38 bucks.... then i will have two keys that will start my truck....
i did a little experiment yesterday. i took an unchipped key and put it in the ignition. then i took my programed key and moved it around the steering column until the truck started and stayed running. theoretically, i could tape/glue my key here, and just use a regular key all the time. like i said, just messing around.
UPDATE UPDATE
cheezy, i done the same thing and couldn't get the truck to stay running with the unchipped key in the ignition and the chipped key stacked on the unchipped and all around in the cab..... any who, waiting on new transponder key to arrive to make a spare ignition key..
canadian, finally got the seat to work. i found the piece u were talking about and i sprayed to heck out of it and worked it for a bit and then the seat would still bind up.... tried spraying it again and working it some more and it is like brand new now..... now my cab smells like spray lube.... LOL.... it's all good tho...
thanks so much for yall's help n info....
