Don't hate me

First off, if this isn't the right place for this, it can be moved. If the subject matter is not acceptable, the thread can be deleted.
This is regarding a recent purchase I made from the Classifieds. I'll try to keep it short...
I bought a supercharger for a Dodge 4.7 from 04hemigtx1990, through the classified and EBay (I'll get to that later). Chris (thats his name) listed the supercharger in the classifieds, and I called dibs after another member backed out. Chris told me the supercharger was off of a friend's truck ('04 1500 4.7), and had 4000 miles on it. He told me his friend bought it new for $3700.
The whole thing was kind of shady, because the kit itself was at his friend's house, etc, etc. Long story short, the kit wasn't really his, but rather his friend's. His friend was on vacation, and I wanted more pictures, so we waited on the purchase. As time went on, they wouldn't provide more pictures because it was 'all crated up already'. So I asked for both of their numbers, so I could speak with both Chris and the friend that owned it. Chris gave me the numbers.
Then I told him that I would only buy it without more pictures, if he listed it on Ebay (so I could have a protected purchase, because I was skeptical). So I bought it through Ebay and paypal, for $1800, on April 5th. I sent payment immediately. I finally got through to his friend (on the phone) on April 7th, and talked through the details of the kit. The friend shipped the kit to Chris on the 8th, and Chris shipped it to me on the 9th. I got the kit on 13th. I never was able to speak with Chris.
The box was a cobbled up mess (which isn't acceptable when I paid $1800 for something). The parts were all tossed in the box and were an oily, greasy, dirty mess. The parts themselves were too dirty for a 4000 mile install.
Included with the kit was the original sales invoice. The original buyer was neither Chris, nor his friend. Chris' friend told me he never used the optimizer computer on his truck. But the optimizer and such had clearly been installed on something in the past. So I know the kit has more than 4000 miles on it, and that neither of these two were the original owners. I'm not using the optimizer, my point is just that this detail proves the kit was installed twice, and that the actual mileage is incorrect.
I was disappointed in the appearance of the parts upon delivery. So I sent Chris a message and asked that he consider a partial refund (on his own accord) on the premise that this item was misrepresented as a 4000 mile kit, that neither of them were the original owner, etc. It was important to me that it was a low mileage kit, and that I knew the history. I thought I was buying a kit from the original owner, who knew the history. I wasn't looking to return the item for a full refund (although I made that an option, with us splitting return shipping), or gouge him on a refund.
He replied saying that I had already got a good deal (after he set the price), and that he had paid $140 to ship (which he should have been aware of/ built into the sale price). I replied with my case, and left three options.
1- We could discuss it and work out a partial refund on our own.
2- I could return everything for a full refund, and split return shipping (either on our own or through Ebay).
3- He could ignore me, and I'd pursue this by the book, through Ebay.
I told him to respond promptly (as he ignored my first few messages), or I'd assume he was taking option 3.
He reposnded by taking down his avatar, signature, personal info, personal messaging, etc.
So I am posting this so no one else has a similar experience, in the event that he maintains on the forum.
Any thoughts or similar experience stories would be cool.
I'm pretty sure I can get a partial refund through Ebay, as I have everything (and I mean everything) documented.
I just don't want this to be a potential problem for others. This is the only thing I ever bought from him, so it may not be the case for all of his items. I just want folks to be aware.
He posts on other boards, and on Ebay as well.
oh and guys hes on here to trying to sell parts...

Paypal/eBay are generally very good to their buyers and usually side with them on things like this so you shouldn't have too much difficulty getting your money back. Though I used to sell quite a bit on eBay a few years ago and I think they should treat they're sellers better than they do.
