4.7L magnum
I've got an '04 ST 4.7l 2WD, what do you think the chances of me having 3.21s are? Would checking the glove box give me this answer?
If the paper's not in the glove box you can also go up to the dealer with your vin number and they'll print off a build sheet for you. I did recently and theres alot of good info on there
4.7 Magnum has been solid for me so far. 2003/50K miles ... had it right off the lot new. I have the manual tranny (NV3500) w/3.55 and I plan on a swap to 3.92. My truck is a daily driver but I have towed my horse trailer w/2 horses and had several other towing excursions. 4.7 will tow good enough for me ... 4th gear and 60mph when at the max load. Of course, if you're in hilly country you will have to knock down to 3rd. I like how the 4.7 raps up the rpm's nice and fast.
I've got a qc/sb 2003 ram with the 4.7 and it's been nothing but great to me. I got it in November of 2008 with 144,000 on the clock and the only thing the original owner ever had to do was the front axles. After I got it it did need a few things including a new rear gear set, but it has been a great truck. Currently it has around 179,200 miles and runs great. It does need a couple things but overall a great truck. I've put 35,000 on it and I can guarantee 20k of those have been with a horse trailer behind it, if not more. The trailer weighing anywhere between 2000# unloaded and 7000# loaded with hay and it's never given me a problem. The hills do kill it while towing up near max but not horribly, just nothing like a diesel. Also, it does get pretty good gas mileage. I've seen anywhere between 9 and 14 mpg towing, it just really depends on how I drive. If I go 60 it does great, but up at 70 it starts to drop fast. Same unloaded, I can get 14mpg going 80 on the highway or I can get 22mpg goin 60 on the highway. It is definitely a gas hog in the city though...gets around 10mpg. If you have any other questions, let me know.
i got the 4.7... love it, running 33s right now well 32.7 and eventually 34s by next week, has good power i have the stick shift so i rarely change out of 6th gear mainly because i live in west virginia and we got mountians to drive up.... but dude u will be happy with the 4.7, i am gettin a SC soon too
i got 305/70/17 nittos for my 4.7 with 3.92 gears and i lost about 4+ mpg in town. only upgrades i have is 2.5in leveling kit and a magnaflow muffer. good motor but wish i had the hemi power. mistake on my part
i love my 4.7 as well.i also dont tow and im using it more as a dd but ive had 2000 pounds worth of tile in the bed and it ran great even with all that weight inside.ive added an exhaust setup and thats helped also.next will be a cai.
