Default 4.7L magnum

I've been lookin at a few quad cabs with the 4.7L online that are near me. Mainly becuz of the cheap price tags. How are the 4.7's with reliability. Most of the trucks i have been looking at have around 100k. Also how are they on power...i know they are rated at 235hp and 295tq. Do they feel really underpowered or what? how would they do turning 33 or 35 inch tires?

If they come with the stock 20 inch rims I think the tires are pretty close to 33 inchs. As far as underpowered it depends. Will you be towing a lot or just a DD?

Ive only had my 04 quad cab with a 4.7 for a couple months now but imo the 4.7 is a great lil v8. Power wise im satisfied with with it. It's not a rocket but if thats what i wanted i wouldnt have bought a truck to begin with. But it'll get up and move when i need it to. as far as the 33 or 35's if you get a superchips with the tires you should be set

I'll be daily driving it. no towing at all. I'm not looking for it to be a rocket. but I also don't want it to be a dog if its sittin on 35's

well if you plan on getting 35's im sure your gonna do some other modifications. like intake, exhaust, superchips etc etc. you'll be fine. Something else that might help is swapping gears in your rear end

I like my 4.7. It's not too heavy on gas and IMO it has power behind it. But you can always add mods to it if you want more power

The 4.7 will handle big tires no problem, the real question is gears, if you get 3.55s or god help you, 3.21s, you're screwed. You're going to want at least 3.92s, probably want to upgrade to 4.10s or 4.56s. I just turned 124k on my 4.7, it has been a solid motor.

I have the 2008 310hp version.....it runs quite well. If you want a rocket, get a sports car.....
5000lb trucks are not meant to be rockets! LOL

i dont mind my 4.7 at all, im running mostly stock except for a custom air intake and i still beat quite a few cars if your lookin for questions on speed, and i haul 4 snowmobiles up north all winter and have had no problems doing so.
