I agree with you about the cold air resulting in more power and the possibility of better mileage.

However, more and more places are using a winter blend fuel that adds as much as 10% ethanol to the gasoline. Ethanol does hurt fuel mileage as compared to gasoline that has 0% ethanol.

Also, many people start their vehicles 5-10 minutes (or more) before leaving their house and this idling time kills MFGs.

So? If we'd wanted mileage, we'd've bought something different. My Chevy got decent mileage for a truck, but my F-150 was the worst. Yet, if Dodge were to vanish, I'd still buy the Ford over the Obama-evy.

Man, are you ever correct! Engine running and not moving is for sure a detriment to miles/gallon. Still, I do like to be warm.

So do I, that is why I will have a remote start in before this winter

I gotta disagree with you all on the cold air = better mpg, cold air makes you run richer which makes you burn fuel faster. I get better mpg when its 110 out than I do when its 40 out.

Now to get better mpg, make your truck run more efficiently than it does stock. That way you dont have to get on the peddle more to get it up to speed faster. I average right around 16.2mpg right now with all of my mods.

so a 1500 cant weigh 6k?

i went to get some stone yesterday and weighed in at 6140 lb empty with 1/4 tank of gas.

as for mileage, in the north mileage goes the crap because of the anti-freeze crap. when i first bought my truck in June i got 23 on the highway. then the level and Toyo's took the highway down to 18.... right now because of winter gas im at 15-16. and im not even gonna say what city is. but mine will pick back up when it gets warmer and the gas gets better.

oh, my speedo is still set for stock tires too so my mileage is a tid bit higher than that too.

gotta love MDS!

our car gets 43 mpg on the interstate and its getting 32 right now so it really is the winter fuel causing MPG havoc.

check the tire pressure to make sure its not too low and get rid of excess weight. dont forget every 5 mph after 65mph uses more fuel because of drag. and in the city u can try to cruise to a stop light.
Do you get the same mpg driving like an old granny as you do driving like a bat out a cave?
