Welcome to DF

1. Do a search you will find tons to read on this subject.

2. Clean TB, change plugs & wires

3. Keep up on regular maintenance: oil changes, tranny fluid, ensure tires are properly inflated.

4. Programmers help some, but with the extra power you will most likely get on the skinny pedal more so your mpgs will not go up.

5. Search again and read for stuff the I missed.

6. Install an E fan in place of your stock clutch driven fan

You might want to do a hard reset.

With a 2500, your truck weighs over 6k pounds. If you are doing a lot of city driving, you probably won't see over 12. Winter makes it worse due to the warmup cycle. I used a block heater in the colder days which helps cut the warmup time. Glass lists some good items. Definitely do a search. Do you do a lot of highway driving? Using synthetic fluids?

Winter is not good for your mileage. Like davb673 said about the warming up your engine. And it is even worse if you live in areas that use winter blend fuel (added ethanol). The ethanol kills fuel mileage.

i have to disagree on the last post , colder air results in more HP and better MPG'S .
i get better mpg's in the winter than summer .

Well, winter is bad for milage in most areas because of the crap the gas stations put in the gas to keep it from gumming up. Other than that, yea the colder the air the better.

Me, too. It's either friskier or it gets better mileage (can't have both ). All my cars have been that way.

My Ram gets about 13-14 on my commute (moderate traffic, not a lot of stop 'n' go) and 17 ish if I can keep my foot out of the injectors. 80 sure feels comfy, though.
