Question Engine using a quart of oil between oil changes

Ok I have an 03 1500 2WD with a 5.7. I am using at least 1 quart of oil in between oil changes.

Any suggestions??

Thanks!

Leaking or burning? How many miles? I had a Gen II which would leak a few ounces from the front seal once in a blue moon. I've never had an engine use a quart between changes.

You are either using and burning it or leaking it. It can only go two places and with an 03 (assuming you have decent miles on it) I would assume you are using a bit but from oil change to the next, it is noticeable.

My bad, its not leaking its using oil. It has about 90,000 miles on it.

I've got 168K on my '03 and it only drops ...maybe a 1/4 quart between changes. Run your finger on the inside of the tail pipe...what's it look like? Do you blow any white smoke upon start up?

Do you beat on it or do any heavy towing? That's about the only time I notice any oil drop.
