just made custom sub box!!
#14

12" between seats sub box DIY!
materials needed.
plywood/particle board. at least a 4ft x4 ft sheet. i used 1/2 thick. (lowes $14)
1-3/8" drywall fine threaded screws. (really any wood screw will work) (lowes $8)
some good silicone caulk (sherwin-williams $5)
self tapping sheet metal screws ( already had these so not sure of price)
3'x6' roll of carped. (autozone $10)
tools needed:
skill saw
drill
jig-saw or sawzall (reciprocating saw)
1" paddle drill bit
tape mesure
square
1/2" wrench
1/2" socket
first remove the center console by removing the bolts from underneath of it. there are 4 in the back and 2 in the front. they take 1/2" socket in the back. and the front ones will require a wrench.
then remove the 4 bolts that hold the arm rest to the lower seat unit.
now you can make your box.
here are the size pieces of wood you will need.
screw them all together and caulk the inside corners as you go.
start with the bottom, screw on the ends, then slide the side pieces in and then the top.
now you will need to make you 12" round hole, i used the tempelate that came with my subs. use the paddle bit to drill a hole to get the sawzall goin.
then finish up calking the inside corners. i didnt have a wire connector insert so i drilled a little hole in the bottom of the box for the wires and caulked the wires into it.
now you can carpet the box! im not good at this so i will let you figure it out as i did lol
now you are ready to attach the arm rest to the sub box. the 2 support arms on the arm rest will have to be pulled apart a bit and its gunna be a tight fit. i just screwed them right into the box it self. (i have the seat up all the way in the pic so this isnt really visible any other time)
camera adds 10x the dirt!
then use the self tapping screws to screw the box into the metal support brackets where the original storage box was bolted in at. now you can install the sub.
your armrest will be higher that stock height, but i think its more comfortable actually.
if you need more pics or any questions let me know
