Anyone know if i can get smaller lug nuts?
So i was bored lastnight so round midnight i went out and took the 20s off my 99 dodge ram and put on the stock 17s.
Then it was only like 12:15 so decided to try them on my 08. but after taking the first rim off my 08 i found out the the lug nuts are to damb big to fit in the hole on the rim.
Now the hole where the bolt goes in is 5/8 of an inch. is bolt on the 08 bigger than that.
If i found smaller lug nuts and the bolt is 5/8 it will work but the lug nuts outside diamiter is to wide
sorry never got to crazy last night, once i found out the lug nut was to big i put the tire back on and never looked at how big the bolt was.

wow there is a joke in here somewhere lol. The rim that you took off called for a diff. lug nut. the stock nuts (if you will) Should fit fine on the 17 in rim. So why not use those; those nuts on the o8 are not designed for the older truck plaoin as that. Buy stock and you should be set for what it's worth..
ps. bored shltless and trucks usually end in jail time..imo

yeah i was just bored last night so wanted to see. but the bolt pattern should be the same but the bolt on the 08 is bigger that on the 99. so bigger bolt means bigger lug nut.
The outside diameter on the 99 is 3/4 and the 08 was 7/8 so it no work.
and im bored again tonight already so we will see what happens.

Call me crazy but a 99 dodge comes with 16" and by the looks of it use smaller nuts like you said (smaller stud 1/2" RH?) anyway so the 20's where 3rd gen origin or Aftermarket? On a 1500 3rd Gen 17" Rim we know it's a 9/16 RH. They can be bought in either 3/4 or 7/8 socket size. I use the larger nuts on my stock rims and smaller nuts on my Alum AR rims as the socket will just fit in the sleeve hole using the smaller 3/4 nut. Fake OEM nuts are like 8 bucks ea here at the CDN dealer, but Costco sells the Chrome Bulk Gorrilla nuts for under a Dollar each (both sizes). So you should be able to mount those 20's on the 08. Good Luck.
