6.5s fit in the back for me without any spacer or special mounts. Just had to make sure to center the speaker as it was going in so that the magnet wouldn't pull to any one side causing the woofer to rub at any place.

The fronts are definitely 6x9s crutchfield however said they were 6.5s which is odd for crutchfield to make a mistake but a simple mounting bracket fixed that problem.

Put Alpine 6.5 type R components in the front. Made spacers with plywood but sounds great!

Getting ready to put door speakers in mine. Yes, Crutchfield says they are 6.5 " but they are 6X9. I had the panel off to confirm this.

I say ditch the 6x9's and go 6.5 components up front. I just put focals in mine, I will never go back to anything less.

just as a wise word, my rear doors were 5.25s and 6.5s would not fit at all. Crutchfield has some 5.25 to 6.5 plasctic adapter and I bought them but when you put them to the door and then the speakers to them, the door skins will not fit. Thats why I made my own trim rings from MDF.

I have the same problem with my 08' Ram Laramie, the front door speakers just flat out suck. When I went to that link posted from Kicker, it shows that I would need to replace "Front 6x9 midbass (2) + 3.5" 2-way (2)" Is their multiple sets in each door?

From the sounds of it, all I can hear from the door appears to be base, and not audio. Is that where the (2) 3.5 2-way come in for audio?

Thanks for the help guys.

Gotta agree with Albertaramfan, Focals are amazing sounding speakers (but a little out of my price range) Crutchfield hooked me up with some Polk Audio db691 (6x9) for the front and db651s (6.5 shallow mount) for the rear. Bolted right into my 06 QC, just be careful to secure the wiring adapter out of the way of the window with a tie-wrap so it doesn't get accidentally unplugged They are a little light on bass, but that's what a sub is for.

Just my $.02

On mine it was the same. Rear doors were full range. Font doors were lower frequencies and the dash were the vocals.

A little light on base!!! I've got the DB651s all around and there is zero bass. I've got the bass turned to the max on my HU and still nothing. I don't think you can get a crisper speaker for the highs but they are horrible for the lows in my opinion. I've got the Bazooka "Party Pack" coming to fix that issue.
