Default Banging from front driver side wheel!

I'm getting a ticking/banging noise from the front driver side tire and cannot figure out what it is! Everything seems to be hooked up and nothing is falling off but that is just a quick look. Any ideas?

ticking and banging could be two seperate problems. Does the wheel feel solid when you pull on it? Is the sound louder at certain speeds? Could you characterized the banging as a clunking sound? I'm sure others will chime in soon. Possible for u-joints to be going out or faultly rack...etc

4x4 or 2wd? if 4x4, only when engaged or all the time? only when turning, or going straight as well? clicking/banging proportional to speed?

Flat smooth road, in 2wd, haven't engaged the 4wd since the axle swap. It is when turning and going straight and the ticking is not proportional to speed. Sometimes after hitting a bump it will go away for awhile. I'd call it a heavy tick almost a knocking.

Well I pulled the tire off and it seems like the cv joint has about twice the play in it as the other side, could this be it?

yes you should have *******ly no play, i had to replace mine after my lift. once you change the drive angle they wear , much faster. id bet money its the cv, i would do them both and get it out of the way cause the other one will eventually go too more than likely
