I was gonna say that I doubted going that big would still allow for you to run the stock butterfly plate or whatever its called.

GOOD LUCK AND KEEP US UPDATED

Probably to high. More air coming through with the larger gap

Nice work.
Yeah, you'll def need a new plate. Way too much air rushing in without. ECu was prob acting like you had the throttle 1/4way open. 5mm around the outer edge is a big increase. You should be able to come across a piece of stainless or something, that'll work great.
Once you get a plate that fits relatively close without much airgap around it, you should have a steady idle that the ecu will adjust to and you won't have a jerky throttle(touchy) because of lack of knife edge which allows a small rush of air at a limted throttle position. You won't have that problem as it should be nice and steady flow through out. Also, the factory plate has a tapered edge it rests against, so if you have trouble getting a tight enough seal, you may have to take another 1mm or so to taper the mating surface. Hoepfully that won't be necessary.

THX guys for the good info. Yeah it wasnt running right at all. But I wont be back at work until Monday so this is on hold until then. I will check into doing the half shaft though. It looks like that will be easier to work with a 1/8 SS plate made to spec v/s having to mill down a piece of aluminum to fit in the shaft itself.

Once you get the plate made with the right gaps you should be set.

^^^^There should be minimal if any gap really. The bigger the gap, the higher the idle when your talking within reason. I experimented on my mustang T/B a while back.
