Default Painting the front bumper

What the heck....long weekend....

Painting the front chrome bumper. I will post the finished product pics as well. I should be finished this evening and will let it dry overnight. The only chrome thing left will be the bumper.

Here are some pics so far....

Looks kind of naked:

Prepping the bumper:

And the first coat of primer:

OK, here is the end result.....I am satisfied....makes the truck look meaner.

I am using Plasti-Dip for the final coat. I did this on some chrome Westin steps a while back and it held up great. The Plasti-Dip is kind of a rubbery coating. It is very resistant to rock chips, etc. Hopefully, this will hold true on the front! LOL

Let me know how the painted chrome piece turns out. Usually anything I paint when it chrome, it will eventually flake off and fail. Especially being a bumper, with rocks etc in the front. Perhaps this "plasti dip" your talking about prevents this. If you were keeping it black, then I'd just paint it with truck bed liner. Looks badass, wont come off, and you can run into **** with no probs.

What color you painting it? I'd put on a number of coats to avoid chips form rocks..etc..

I thought about the bed liner stuff. If this doesn't work out, then that is what I will do. I just applied the third coat of Plasti-Dip. Like I said before, I did some chrome Westins with the same product and it worked out very well. I recently took the steps off, but they still look as good as new.

I am letting it dry overnight and I am putting the bumper back on in the morning. I will snap some pics then. Look for it in the morning. G-night Dodge Forum! LOL

Now you need those alumin rocker guards and fender guards from lmc. paint them ******* black and then you'll have a bad a$$ looking rig imo. blue on black 360 degrees thats what m I'm talking about...paint it black...worked for the rolling stones!!!
