Question wiring question?

Ok! My e-fan has been working great around town and on the highway. But this weekend going uphill on mountain roads, high rpm low speeds, it could not keep up and it let the temp get up higher than my liking. So my thought is to have a switch that is on/on, one side the low speed just like it is now, the other side would be the high wired direct not needing the relay because the only time I would use it would be under extreme circumstances.

My question here is this. The fan draws 130 amps or so at start up then a steady 40 amps on high. What kind of switch do you recommend? I see lots of 10 amp double throw toggle switches, but will it hold up to this kind of power running through it?

I am open to suggestions here!

You might be able to find one that will work but I think it would almost be easier to just use a seperate relay?

I agree, I would wire a second relay to operate the high side. The 130A is a momentary surge. A 50A relay should handle the motor. I have a Flex o lite single speed that turns on at 195. It only occassionly comes on when I stuck in traffic. But the temperature comes down quicky. Good luck...

You'll still need the relay. I have my fan set to come on at the old "normal" (just about 1/2 on the gauge). The 180 'stat keeps it at a bit over 1/4 when not in traffic. Just for peace of mind, I also have a manual switch, plus a LED on the dash that comes on when the fan does (and at any speed over 50 ).

Default efan

I am adding an EFAN to my Durango; I will use a Hayden 3647 and a single 16 inch puller on the engine side. I followed the controller instructions that have provisions listed below; the only unused wire is the blue one. I do have a question my controller has a small screw driver slit on it to set when the fan engages, there are no numbers on it just turns is this the same as yours and how did you know where to put it initially?
I did swap the 25 amp fuse for A 40 AMP and a covered fuse holder; I am worried about fan failure so I am interested in how you wired your set up, and what your exact products are. I can read instructions just fine but pictures are always better for this old mind.

Thanks

BLUE Fan #2 Pos (+), GREEN A/C Clutch

Weed, if you think about it, no matter what I do at this point I will have about that much in it. If I would have done that first it would have been great. And the description is dead on, normal driving it works great on low. But off road the high would really come in handy!
