Default Under truck today and found...

1. I know a while ago we discussed rust on the drive shafts, but mine is aluminum. No doubt about it, it is definitely aluminum.

2. It looks like the lower control arm is right on top of the rubber bumpstop. Kinda weird. Can somebody else verify this while they're under thier 2wd 1500.

Oh yeah, the tranny manufacture date is 4-22-04. A Thursday. At least it isn't Friday or Monday. Saw it printed on the edge near the pan.

What engine and tranny do you have? My Dakota had an aluminum driveshaft, but the Hemi ram doesn't.

Interesting driveshatt info. I was the one who initially asked about this (at least most recently). I'll be interested to look under my truck when it comes in. None of the random sample I looked under at my dealer had aluminum.

btw, I've ordered an ST with hemi and 3.92 limited-slip. I expect if any are steel, that will be the combo, but we'll see.

While looking under the trucks I also noted that the ultra-cheapo rear wheel well protectors don't go all the way around (nothing in the front area at all!), but there are holes for same in the fender lip. What's with this? How much can this save? Sheesh... so, I'm going to get another set like are on it and reverse sides. They nickel and dime us to death!

Hey Avanti, I think you can buy the wheel well liners for pretty cheap. Check out dodgeparts.com or one of the vendors. I would recommend vendors first then the site I listed.

Please try the site sponsors. I got a set for my truck and love them. I think it just completes the look of the truck a little better.

Are there specific liners for the front of the rear wheel-wells, so I won't have to reverse the others and mod them to fit? Parts numbers?

This truck is going to be on the Bonneville Salt Flats one week a year (the whole reason I ordered the truck--to tow my wife's race car) and it would help tremendously to close this area in as well as possible.

Thanks in advance. Great forum, btw!
