Default Disable DRLs (already searched, got nothing)

Alright, I want to disable my drl's. Is there just a fuse I can
pull out? I don't care how illigal it is or if I get pulled over for it. I'd rather not have the dealer changer PCM/ECM. Can I disable the drl's with my superchip program? I'd just like to know if I can just pull a fuse. I'd rather not run feeder wires and splice all kinds of stuff. Any help would b greatly appreciated. I'll show you pics after I get it done...to show you the reason I'm
asking.

I'd suspect that means the starscan diagnostics tool - unless their is another way...The "other" forum says you can't disable them once they are set via the dealer prep portion of the starscan interface - but I don't believe it, plus the service manager I talked to says it's...

  • no problem and is reversable
  • will do it for free... (I'm awaiting my next service appointment to have this done)
It's my intention to have the DRL's disabled, then to retain the function by moving them to my front turn signals via a normally closed relay that uses the turn signal pulse to "open" the circuit - rather than flash/blink it.

I've been meaning to ask about the headlights. Why is it when the DRL's are on, And use the signal light, that one headlight turns off? Safety issue? Just to be different? What gives?

I do not have an 07 manual but I have an 06 and it says......

Daytime Running Lamps - Vehicles manufactured for sale in Canada illuminate the high beam
headlamp bulb in each front lamp unit to serve as the Daytime Running Lamps (DRL).

So can someone use a meter and measure the voltage on the high beams with the truck running and lights off but DRLs on?

I've been meaning to do that - as well as look for any hint of high frequency pulses, but haven't yet.
I know the end result is indeed reduced voltage - but it might be more than just from riunning DRL power through a current limiting resistor in the FCM/BCM...
I suspect there is a solid-state relay that actuates the headlights, and that it is being triigered (switched on and off very quickly) resulting in a stepped or square wave (meaning on for a bit, off for a bit) rather than just running at say 8 volts.

I started a thread no too long ago on the same idea, im surprised that you did not find it.

The DRLs are run internally by the computer, and the relay that controls it is probably built internally.
So no there is no fuse to pull, or anything. You have to either A) go to the dealer, or B) buy a tuner that does it. The bullydog GT has special functions designed for dodge only. Like turning off the DRLs turning the driving lights on with high beams, and seat belt minders and everything. I don't know about superchip tuners and what not. But the bullydog GT i have and its confirmed by me that it works.

The Bullydog GT specs indicate DRL and High-Beam w/fogs being apllicable on the 06' to '09's

I can't confirm if it will enable/disable such features on my '04.

(sorry - I hope I don't sound like a snot, I apologize if that's how I come across).

When I installed HIDS ony grand am I had to disable my drl's...I had an electrician n mecanic but it wasn't cheap. Can I still install the HIDS with. The drl's? Just have them run all day???

And for the other guy...when you turn your turn signal on the headlight turns off to make the signal more visible. From what I've been told.
