Default 4.56 gear question...

I've been reading about going from the stock 3.92 gears to the 4.56's. I am very interested in doing this, but still have some reservations.

I have a 4x4, so I know I need to do the front and rear at the same time.
So, the gears alone I see on Moe's for $599 (Motive). Then what? Does that come with all the necessary parts or are there other parts needed?

I need to find someone to install them. How much am I looking for installation? Would my best bet be to go to one of these 4x4 shops in the area or find a independent mechanic? I know this is beyond my expertise and wouldnt want to mess up anything.

If anyone could recommend a shop in the Tampa Bay, FL area, it might help.

And are Motive gears the ones I would want to use?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

The kit you are looking at on Moes Website for $599 includes the install kit so you should be covered there (mt 4.56's actually came in the mail today)... As for installation cost, I cant help you cause my brother is doing it for free for me.. I would call around and see how the cost varies from shop to shop that way you have an idea of how much you should spend... I live in the DC area and everything is much more expensive here than Fla

I think all said and done you IFS guys are looking at about 1800 to 2k parts and labor all in. I got my gears for a hell of a deal front and rear for 600$ CAD and put them in at dads shop.

While you're in there, get an aftermarket LSD. If you dont, you'll regret it. The Auburn and Detroit Tru Trac are the two most popular (look in the FAQ section for a comparison). Most of the time the shop will do the install for free since they're already in there.

For the 4.56 front and rear, Auburn LSD, and install of everything, I paid $1800 which is about average. DO NOT go with the lowest bid. This job is worth payin a bit extra to get it done right. Your main concern should be finding a shop that knows what they're doing with gears. You'd be surprised how rare they are. I'd wanna know how many gear installs they've done, if they offer a warranty on labor, etc.
