Most likely selling the truck

I would trade my truck in too since it's so much easier than finding someone who is willing to buy it from you, however, the stealership probably won't give me the amount I could get if I sold it privately. That's the only thing that is preventing me from doing that.
I'm also gonna have to get a new set of angel eyes too lol
How much do those smoker kits go for..I'm almost afraid to ask..

hmm downsides to the cummins motor in particular... really only the price. for the year range truck you are looking at i'd say expect to pay for a high mileage in pretty tough used condition 22.5k or 25k and for something with mid to low miles and in great shape 35k or at lowest 30k.
Programmers are what get the smoke but really the smoke if you wanna be nitpicky is wasted power. It's pure unburnt fuel that is spewed out due to the lack of enough air to burn it all effectively or lost power but I'm in the same boat as most and just think it's cool but technically speaking it's a waste.

Black smoke is the result of overfueling - prior to electronically controlled engines, you merely needed to turn the fuel pressure up (or don't change your air filter - ever)
I drove Dad's 325 hp Mack R1600 (long nose) with Mack's wretched v8 diesel. it overfueled big time. on one occasion, the elbow that led to the stack got torn off so it would blow thick black smoke straight out the side. Only thing it was right at window height for most automobiles.... I wasn't apprecaited much by neighboring motorists in cars when I drove it in town through rush hour traffic including stop lights at 35 degree Celsius weather.

Here is a smarty programmer...not too, too bad of a price

How bad is this for the engine, I of course don't want to do it if I run a higher risk of hurting the engine though...

Definitely go with stacks.
You're also doing just what I want to. I want to trade my truck for a Cummins.
If you do get rid of the headlights, let me know how much you want for them.
And for the smoke, you just need a smoker kit, then you'll get the nice rolling black smoke you want.
