Is the 4.7 enough for the Ram 1500...???
but its still got get up and go.
i dont understand how u 4.7 guys are gettin under 15mpg....i get that when i stomp on it everywhere. otherwise im in high 16's or low 17's if i have a really light foot with 50/50 between city and highway. i have the manual but i dont think itd make that much of a difference...
HELL YEAH ITS ENOUGH!!!!
i climb a pretty steep grade when i drive to l.a.(conejo grade-camarillo to l.a. if any one knows it) i climb it doing 75+mph with my engine @ about 2000-2500rpm.i fly past tahoes,f150s,silverados and whatever else, easily.

My ST weighs 4570 lbs with about 10 gals. of gas in it, I just had it on the scales Saturday, maybe that's why the 4.7 seems like plenty to me! I know the G-Tech is not perfect but muy truck shows 7.5-7.7 0-60 depending on tire spin, 20-60 mph takes 5.5, and 1/4 mile was 15.4. All this with 3.55 gears and a/t. I know a similar equipped Hemi would be faster, but I'm happy.
The 4.7 is cheaper and will get its jobs done just fine. No more, no less. The Hemi will be able to do its jobs in much more style.
Do you just want to be able to get your stuff around and don't care much about power? Get the 4.7. It's cheaper and if you drive sensibly, you will get slightly better mpg than a Hemi (unless you tow a lot of weight).
Do you want to be able to yank your stuff around and defy the laws of physics with a ton of power? Get the Hemi.

I don't think the engine is the problem...its the trans and gears. I have a 4.7 from a dead stop it moves well but once you get going it constantly runs up through the gears and lugs real bad. I think it has plenty of power but its poorly used. When i manually shift the truck it runs way better. makes me wish i got a manual trans.
yea the manual trans is nice controling the rpms myself, i guess thats why i get pretty decent mileage....never under 15mpg unless im goin through down town with lights all day.
