Default DIY Brakes?

Is there a step by step DIY thread on how to replace your brake pads and rotors? I can't seem to find one in the search thread but it would be helpful if I had something to refer to. The brakes are supposed to be here on the 14th.

I never gave a thought to not having one, I guess to me a brake job DIY would be like having a "how to properly pump gas" DIY, but since you are going to do it, and obviously have a camera (you've posted up a few pics in your day), it would be a good time for you to do one for others, no?

Again, I agree with you. But I assumed he never has changed brakes before. Everyone has to start somewhere.

I guess I take some things for granted, even though I went into the tech industry, my grandfather, father and uncle were mechanics by trade, so I grew up with it. I actually resisted working on vehicles like it was being forced to eat liver, till I got into my early 20's and found that it was a great release to go "tinker" with my truck/Jeep/car to unwind...

This forum lacks some serious empathy for those who want to learn how to do something on their own. Some of the elitess members on this forum are psuedo when it comes to genuinely wanting to help others learn; apparently they just want to flaunt their lengthy mechanical resume and reign down pity and cynicism on those who do not match. Comparing a brake job to pumping gas is the ultimate insult and I don't take kindly to it. What the **** is the point to a forum if one of the most basic mechanical jobs isn't listed? That is making a sweeping assumption that everyone on this forum automatically knows how to do such. I'm incredibly disappointed and insulted.

I just changed out the pads and rotors yesterday on my '07 1500. It wasn't too bad. I will say that it took me awhile to figure out how the pads went in, but once it dawned on me, it was pretty simple. It probably took me 2 hours to do the first side (since I really didn't have a clue what I was doing), and then 20 minutes for the second side as I then realized how it all went back together.

It still stops, so it seems to be working! The dt link posted by weedahoe does make sense.
