Another New Guy With a Tuner, CAI Question
Is fried rice better than white rice? Its purely an opinion on taste . They're both great at what they do. Its not that one is better than the other. Each one is better than the other depending on your application.
There are 3 main tuners: Superchips, DSP, and SCT.
Superchips is great for lightly modded vehicles, and the 3865 has some great tranny support coming (supposed to be better than anything out there to date).
DSP offers great tranny support for 2005 (but not really any other year as much), and best of all, they support custom tuning, which is a necessity if you're looking at major mods in the future (i.e. cam). DSP also offers very good datalogging capabilities
SCT also offers custom tuning, but no trans support or datalogging abilities.

Thanks AF. I've been looking at the Superchip and Diablo. I think that the Diablo is better (so i've heard) for me because i have a manual transmission.
I've looked on both sites and the superchip said +17.8 hp, and Diablo did not have any details as to gains in HP and Torque.

Gains will be fairly similar. I'd go with DSP for the simple fact that if you get bit real hard by the mod bug and decide to cam it, you wont have to change tuners.
If you had an automatic, I would say SC hands down. For a stick, you could go either way. The tunes themselves are pretty much the same. As far as custom tuning later, you can always sell/trade and get a dsp straight up. My advise is to buy a used tuner and get whichever is cheaper. You won't be able to tell the difference on a truck with just a cai and an exhaust. Sure I'm a joker, but I've been heavily into modding the hemi longer than most of these guys have even owned a stock truck. There are two great stickies on both tuners. Read them.
from Bethel Park. graduated from WVU. I was about to give you a real hard time if you went to Pitt. Thank God thats not the case.
Rubber -- im gonna disagree with you. I've now used both, and I think the DSP has a lot more punch to it. He also has an 05, so even if he did have an automatic, the DSP trans support is awesome on the 05's. Technically, superchips doesnt have crap for trannys right now

As for the CAI, I have seen some cool home made ones on here, so I'm gonna try making one and see how that works.

something superchips doesnt offer -- custom tuning capabilities (and never will)
