Default Another New Guy With a Tuner, CAI Question

I'm sure my question has already been answered, I just haven't found it yet. I have not done any mods to my truck yet. The first thing I'm gonna do is get a tuner, probably the DSP. Also I want to put in a CAI. My question is, does it matter what kind of CAI I get; with a heat sheild, with out a heat shield, brand name or home made.
Will any of them make a difference more then another or will all CIA be about the same with the DSP?

Thanks

Good choice on the DSP. for the CAI they're all mostly the same as long as you get rid of the stock "hemi hat" (which they all do). For best bang for the buck, make your own. there are TONS of guys on here that have made their own and report just as good of gains as the $300 ones. Welcome to the forum buddy

warning for the new guy. Frog is only here for humor, and a great job at it he does. Not that he cant, he just chooses not to offer real help all the time. 90% of the time his comments arent serious.

you're the man frog, just didnt wanna lead a new guy down the wrong path

Thanks guys...I'll be aware of frog's humour.
So get rid of the hemi hat, how come? Does it absorb heat or restrict air flow?

restricts airflow..http://www.ilovebodykits.com/product...m_Hemi_V8.html this will fit your 05... and if you dont plan on doing a cam or other bigtime mods i would get the superchips tuner 3865 cause there will be new upgrades released very very soon and theres nothing else like em....so i been told...

its possible, but they've been talking about this update for over a year now it seems, with the beta testers testing for 6 months! I dont think its coming anytime soon, and DSP has amazing tranny support for the 05. Plus I've used both, and I think the engine tuning on the 93 tune (DSP) is much better than the 91 tune (SC).

Not trying to diss Superchips, cause they do a good job, and I'm sure the new updates will be awesome. But I wouldnt wanna continue to wait for them, especially with how good the tranny support for the 05 is on DSP

Thanks for the advice on the superchips. I'll probably stick with the DSP so I can keep my options open if I decide to do the big mods.
