So I just ordered some new pads and rotors on all four corners. My OEM rotors are fine (one rear is warped) but I just wanted to get new all the way around prepin' for my trip from DC to cali. So, I want to keep the old rotors and store then, but I want to turn them first. Is there a good way to store them after they have been turned so I can use them at any time?
Most uncoated rotors are stored with an oil. You could rub on any kind of motor oil or trans fluid. WD would work too. Then spray with brake cleaner when ready to install.
Why not store them as is, and when you're ready to use them get them cut.
I have a hook up and can get them turned for next to nothing and when I move, I wont have the hook up to get them done. I will use some tranny oil them to store them. What is WD oil?
When I had spare heads, I would keep them in buckets of used oil. When I had spare bare blocks I coated the cylinders with grease and the same with cranks.
