grabbed up some mobil1 5-30 fully syn for the truck as usual and i will also be doing a diff fluid change tomorrow after i get outta school.....a typical oil change is in order but anything i should be aware of doing the diff i know alot have been doing it so i for know its time for mine.....i gotta grab a filter as they were out and i also need some black rtv for the diff cover and some rubber gloves hehe.....

 

Did you paint that diff cover yet?

huh thats crazy , my book said 5-20 but you all say 5-30 and i for sure dont have MDS
i have ran 5-20 for a while never a problem

 

I did my last summer. Nothing hard, just clean of any metal sludge liquid gears stuck to the bottom magnet. I assume you know about the anti-slip additive for the rear diff?

I'm curious. How many miles do you go on the Mobil 1?

I go by time more than miles. I usually change the oil 3 times a year, so about every 4 months. 130,000 miles later and running great on nothing but mobil 1 5w-30 with either a mobil 1 filter or K&N filter.

 

I was curious. On my wife's Caravan I've gone 8 years on Mobil one with 10K oil changes. Still runs great but I want to baby My Ram. hehehe
