so the dealership wanted 440.00 to change my spark plugs...im thinking yeah right.

I went out bought all 16 spark plugs for 68.00. i guess i didnt realize what i was gettin myself into considering there not the standard wires.

i got on cyl done.(two plugs) and now i stuck.

anytips on how to get in there and remove the plugs?

any help would be awsome..thanks.

 

Tons of posts to search for here. Have the right tools and plenty of patience. A u-joint and different size extensions for your socket wrench is a big help.

 

Most guys only use an extension, ratchet, universal joint, and some guys use a bit of hose to put over the plug to get them in and started when replacing. I'm sure other guys will come on to help. From what they say, it is a PITA. Good luck

It's amazing the price differences between dealerships. My neighbor with an '06 Ram Hemi 4x2 just got it done while I was in Georgia and he was pissing and moaning about them charging him $185 to do it!

But yeah, do a quick search, there a plethora of threads and I'm sure a DIY on it.

Most are easy enough to get to, two of them are a bigger bi*ch than my ex wife however. It's a good 2 1/2 - 3 hour job and I personally don't know how anybody could do it without the piece of hose...

 

I did it fine without the hose. I had a short and long spark plug socket that I alternated between though.

 

I am coming up on this pretty soon too. I ordered a set of these to hopefully make things a little easier



These have a magnet inside to hold the plug, and the extensions are attached, so they can't pop off while trying to extract the old plug. those coupled with a u joint, and a swivel head ratchet and I think that I should be pretty well set. I just have to prepare myself for the ~4 hours it is going to take.

I found it MUCH easier to remove the front tires and wheel well liners, and get at them from underneath. Good Luck!

 

if you have a jack and the proper tools, save yourself 400 bucks. dont waste it at the stealership. they charge way too much for labor.
you could buy a ton of stuff for $440.

 

Damn, I think I paid about $30 for all 16 of mine.
And unless I'm mistaken, with a 2007 you shouldn't have any wires, which actually saves time.
