sorry guys, another oil thread!

... but my dealer wants to fill my truck with 0w-20 or 5w-40 !!!!

right! he is not a chrysler-dealer but he is next to me .

remember ...its the 03 1500 5,7hemi and w/o MDS!

will this kill the engine ?

never heard of 0w-20

5-20 or 5-30 would be fine

The 03 hemi takes 5w-30 doesn't it, if anything other than that I'd say 0w-30 b/c it has better cold flow properties. If 0w-30 is a available get it, but I don't think you would do any harm w/ the 2 you mentioned.

No, the '03s had no MDS. Unless it's leaking, stick with the 5w-30 Dodge says to use. Since you get more cold, I'd say 0W-30. Doubt if it gets hot enough for 40 weight.

Amsoil has a 0w-20 that they recommend for anything requiring 5w-20.
