Good morn'in all, wondering if anyone has experienced this before, on occasion when I start my truck the overhead computer will read -40 degrees. If I shut the truck off and start it back up it will clear it. But the other morning on my way to work about a mile down the road the c.e.l came on started to blink then the truck just died out and check gauges light came on but left no codes WTF?? It started right up after this. I did'nt notice what the overhead was reading at the time (5:45am) Iam running SC performance tune. any input would be appreciated, thanks
my 06 hemi has started doing the same thing. It will read -40 for a few miles then will slowly start to climb and read normal. Will be ok for a week or so then do it all over again.Im not running any tuners or anything.Shes all stock.Everything seems normal just the reading is whacked
Mine does this as well, but only when I remote start my truck with my Viper 5901 RS. The RS is hooked into the data (canbus) wire so it can start the truck, and I have been told that is what is causing it to read like that. I know you didn't mention a RS, but it might be something messing up in your canbus system???
Hey thanks for the input guys. I guess its just a minor glitch in the system just hoping it doesnt lead to more serious issues down the pike. I will check that data wire like rbeard79 suggested.
There is a service bulletin out on this issue with certain trucks.
Take it to the dealer for a software update if the temperature reading returns to normal after a time, if it stays at -40 there is a possible open circuit in the system and a software update wont fix it. Hope this helps.
