Most kits have the same bulb between 55w and 35w. And the 55w ones are very bright. My buddy has 3 sets of 55w HIDs on his Jeep, and they are extremely bright. And each temperature is a little bit whiter than in a 35w kit. So an 8000k kit might look like a 6000k color in a 35w. But not in actual brightness.

I just got this email from the guy I ordered my set from.

Thanks for your message, the order has been confirmed.

The problem is the Dodge Ram usually can't use our HID lights, if you use
the HId lights in your car, the lights will flash all the time.
So we suggest to cancel the order, if you insist to buy the kit, we'll ship
out as soon as possible once you confirmed.

Looking forward to your message soon!

Have a nice day!

Cheers

so there goes that easy idea. I did find a kit to specifically caters to our trucks and 55 watt HIDs

http://www.retrosolutionsllc.com/ser...rchpath=119755

However, this is what the kit includes;

This kit features simulated load on the included wiring harness that is a requirement for proper operation on Dodge Ram trucks. The load is simulated by means of resistors, to which installation and operation should adhere to the following recommendations to avoid damage or injury.
1) Resistors should be mounted directly the metal chassis, away from and not under plastics or heat sensitive items without proper ventilation to allow for cooling
2) Do not operate or handle the wiring harness, particularly the resistors without a proper 15 minute cooling period to avoid injury from burns

Sooooo, unless you hear differently, it doesn't look like 55 watt HIDs are plug and play on our trucks without requiring the extra resistors/capacitors/relays/blah blah blah

The 35w HID kit will work just fine - you just have to use the 20watt 8ohm resistor and wire it to each side. It is very easy really....The 20w load fools the PCM into thinking there is a 55w draw coming from the light so no lamp out issues occur.

The HIDextra kits are plug and play. They come with a resistor if you specify that it is for a Dodge Ram.

I have the extra resistor from Hidextra and works great. Just have to specially ask.
Also (idk if its only Hidextra or all HIDs) but when you turn on your lights, if its dark out, and you pay attention, for a split second your ballasts put out 55w. Then the normal 35w for the remainder of the time...I cant remember who told me this, but if you go out and look at your HID lights youll see what talking about

Yea, suppose we could ask them if they are planning on selling 55w kits. To be honest, I'm plenty happy with their 35w kits. Less strain on the OEM wire harness and headlight lens. Their 35w ones I got are rated at 3600 lumens which is plenty bright enough. Some people claim to have problems with their kits and resistor harness but mine plugged in and worked fine. Never had a lamp out light or an issue with only one light working.

Here's a short vid I took right after I got the new projectors with the HIDeXtra 5k HIDs installed. I didnt wait long enough for the camera to focus in the beginning.

Ram man17-

This is what I read back when I noticed the HID start up flash and got curious;

The bright flash you see is the igniter's lighting the bulbs to get them going. After that, the bulbs begin to warm up to operating temperature. After 1-2 minutes, they will be up to temp and the operating brightness.
