Question Replace 03 Hemi with 07 Hemi from car?

My 03 Ram dropped a valve due to broken spring and it knocked a hole in a piston. I have found a low mileage Hemi in a wrecked 07 Charger. Will this swap work? Thanks -Jim

All you should (and I am saying should because I have never personally done this) is swap your front cover, accessories (maybe oil pan?), intake manifold, sensors and your valve cover/coil setup. As far as I have been able to tell, the core long block between 03-08 is the same for all of them (someone correct me if they know differently). If the 07 engine has EGR, you will have to block this off as the 03 doesn't have it. I'd like to find an 09 long block (or at least a set of heads) and see if it can be retrofit.

Thanks. I plan to tap the EGR hole and put a pipe plug in it. Does the 07 have the MDS feature? How can I tell? Someone on another board mentioned I may have to swap in my 03 cam if it does. Does the 07 Charger Hemi have the same break-o-matic valve springs my 03 has? Thanks again. -Jim

IMO other than the front drive being different and possibly the oil pan it should just bolt up. The MDS requires an electrical signal to work so way I see it if you have nothing to hook it up to you will be fine. Same goes for the EGR. If you wanted to I bet you could even leave the egr hooked up to the motor and the PCM won't care because it doesn't have an EGR out. Let me know how this works if you do because I can find HEMI's for cheap up here and I might buy one do all the mods while its outta my truck then bolt a new performance motor in so yeah. Subbed.

I knew I was forgetting something, yeah the 07 car engine will have MDS, but all you have to do is rip it all out and put in 03-05 valve gear and cam. Hell, while you have it out of the vehicle you should upgrade the springs and cam.
