Default F**K Clarion

Well I am through with Clarion...they are just a ****ty company IMO. I decided to go from my comfortable brand, Pioneer, and buy a Clarion HU for this truck. I got the VRX785BT, with what looked like some pretty cool features. I paid about $700 for it a little over 2 years ago, which was a good price then but In-dash DVDs have gone down alot now

I thought the flip out deal looked cool. Wish I would have got a double din. Another story though. So in May of last year, the screen went white. Touch sensitivity still worked (I had memorized the locations on the screen), it got power but had no video. No problem, I was within the warranty. So they tell me to send it in to a repair place. Factory Repair Services in Dallas, Tx. Never send anything there, after probably 50 calls, 50 repair dates, and a few calls to the BBB they guy supposedly sent me a new radio.

He sends me a refurbished one. I was so ready to get it I was satisfied. 90 day warranty. Well, about 150 days into this radio (two months after the 90 day) the screen does the same f-ing thing.

I am furious. I have finals and other crap going on, so I cant deal with this! They have been treating me like I stole the thing, refuse to fix it and say I can send it in for $150 and if there is any internal damage or liquid damage I pay extra. And a 90 day warranty after that. They WILL NOT deal with me, wont help me, or even really reason with me. What should I do, cut my losses and get a new one or try to fight? And if you say try to fight what can I say?

Yeah but Ben, Clarion is a reputable company and makes good products. Sounds like Matt just has some bad luck and it kept rolling. I lost an auction yesterday for a Pioneer F900BT at 235 or so. It was missing the volume **** which I could order from Pioneer for 17 bux and that HU retails at 1k.

As much as I love my AVIC-z1 with my upgraded hard drive and other things, Im thinking of selling it and updating to something newer. The good thing about the AVICs is they hold thier re-sell price.

Granted in my line of work no radio is infalable. However I've been using clarion product for three years. Each year the hu breaks I like the aux, feature on these radios I plug in my mp3 and is satelite ready as well. Granted my radio get's transfered truck to truck I'm never in the same truck twice. with all the boucing and jarring i'm not surprised these units turn too shlt. i feel for you matt 99 . Cut your losses and go b ack too pioneer. Sorry for the rant nuff said.

I had a Clarion HU and disc changer myself. Every few months the disc changer would go to chit and I'd have to send it in and wait 4 to 5 weeks for them to "fix" it. It NEVER worked right and they wouldn't send me a new one, they just kept trying to fix the pos one I kept sending in. I went with Kenwood and have been very happy with their radio. Very good quality and has worked for 3 years and 2 trucks with no problems. Clarion IMO sucks and I feel your frustration man.

lol sorry man, I saw it and was gonna try and fix it (I didnt care about the small scratch) and knew how much it was worth. Even at 235 it was still worth buying fixing and selling

And Im just kinda wondering how much I could get for it fixed. If I could get 400 I would do it and get a DD pioneer. What yall think

A double din would be sweet. Ive had my JVC single din in dash dvd since Ive had a truck. It has a small 3.5" screen that plays dvds and such. Ive got a 120gb HDD plugged in it along with my ipod. Also it has bluetooth, you can make phone calls and stream bluetooth audio. Ive always been happy with JVC radios, they have just about all of the same features. My radio in particular I got from a guy off CL for 60 bucks, it was a steal!
