Wouldnt there be a vacuum in the box from the engine sucking air?

You dont need a huge amount of vacuum. You just need enough to pull out saturated air.

yes there would be a small vacuum in the air box. if you hooked it up to one of the capped ports on the intake the vacuum effect would be larger due to the buttery fly on the TB being closed or part

i didn't relize it needed vacum for ventalation.
i thought when it needed to stuff would just vent out.
if i don't see any gunk on the filter after awhile i guess i need to put a bung in the intake. my enigine has the same oil fill tube, except i have a pcv where ur breather hose is. and my breath hose is where ur pcv valve is i guess. lol

i'm not getting rid of the pcv valve i agree that would be a bad idea.

I would be afraid of having too much vacuum if connected directly to the intake. Too much vacuum in the crank case could actually suck dirt and water through the crank seals couldn't it?

^^^^Not good and feeding your tb and inards with unfiltered, oily, engine breath! Not my idea of a breath of fresh air. Trust me that set up will KILL your motor from the inside out!

^^^ That set-up is what 90% of the stock set-ups are like, they all plug in between the filter and the TB.

yeah mine is definatly plugged into the air box after the filter and before the throttle body. my hose came off and dirt was getting sucked in there and when i started my truck one day just boom blew my intake into pieces.
