Default Exhaust recommendation

I have a 4.7 V8 regular cab Ram. What exhaust do y'all recommend that isn't to loud but yet not quiet, or just loud? Want improved performance more horsepower with maybe better mileage. i know improved mileage may or not be improved if so its usually not alot.

Also are there any downsides to an exhaust system?

Here's a start....switch your stock y-pipe to a Magnaflow y-pipe..30 bucks from practically anywhere on the net. That will help your flow out ALOT. As far as a muffler choice....I put my Borla XR-1 on last week with the Magnaflow y and absolutely fell in love with it. Pretty quiet at idle, no drone, and sounds absolutely nasty at WOT. However, everyone on here seems to prefer Magnaflow mufflers. Decent prices and great tone, with pretty good flow. And by the way, you will NOT get better mileage as soon as you put the exhaust on, because you will have your pedal to the floor pretty well all the time just to listen to how good it sounds!

also stay away from fm's you will replace in three years sometimes less. also un hook your neg batt, terminal when done for five minutes. this will make your truck relearn it's sensor system and make it run without cel codes or problems from o2 sensors.
ps.you can go with fm's they are good for the money cat back systems but as with anything you get what you pay for.imo

I have the Aero AT3030XL and love it. I'm not sure what it would sound like on yours because I have the 5.7L.

I just redid my exhaust. True dual with a magnaflow dual in dual out with a x pipe. It sounds great. better than my flowmaster super44's. It's just as loud but deeper IMO than the flowmaster. It seems to do better on the butt dyno as well.

Thanks. Got some looking to do then. Borla has some good reviews, as does the other two. Haven't heard of fm, but I'll take your word and stay away from them

You should pick a couple muffler's you're thinking about and go on you tube and check it out. They have pretty good demo's for the exhaust.

BTW, you haven't heard of fm???? Maybe flowmaster rings a bell. lol

I have to order mine next Friday but I'm pretty solid in knowing a cherry bomb extreme is going on the 'ol girl REAL soon.
