Default So I got a price on Line-X for my step bars and bumpers

$130 for each bumper and $115 for the bars.

I am not sure I want to pay that much for such a little area.

I have read up on the Herculiner approach and it looks fairly easy. I am looking to just get rid of the chrome on my truck and those are the last pieces of chrome left. And I hear painting them wont last, however I also dont really want the "rough" look of the bedliner material.

How would the herculiner look on an all black truck? Or any other suggestions...

Thanks
Dan

I have seen most types of spray on liners out there. Available here in NY at least. I did quite a bit of research too. Since I never planned on really working my liner hard, it was a matter of neat and tidy for me. Line-X looked the best, imo.

I paid $550 over the rail for a 6ft bed. They sprayed it thicker on the rails too.

$130 doesn't seem too steep to me, if a quality job is done. A DIY-er could come out "off" looking, ya know ?

There's a new group of people who are also trying the plasti-dip. You can put three coats on and according to some reports, if you don't like it you can take it back off. It's durable and pretty much rubber, so for the steps you would have more of a non-slip area. It comes in all kinds of colors and you don't have that "rough" look. A guy on another forum has been running it on his rims with no problems to report. If it chips you touch up and you never notice it was there is what he said. Just another thought on what you could do.

Never thought of Plasti-Dip

Its easy to use for sure

I wouldnt have any problems matching black? It won't be perfect, but as long is its close.

And I could leave the bumpers on with that stuff.

Hmmmmm

Wow and i thought we were expensive. I spray procoat, where i work, which is like linex. I spray ranch hand bumpers all the time for 100 bucks and we get 450 for spraying an over the rail 8ft bed. But Herculiner would be a cheaper alternative. If you go this route i would make sure to put it thicker where rocks will hit. It will start to chip off if you dont.

Exactly, there's no sanding. All you'd have to do is make sure you clean and maybe degrease so if you decide to go back you don't have scuff marks from sanding. Just a thought!!!!

I can't afford new rims so I'm throwing this idea around myself as almost a definite mod in the real close future.

I live in NY= $$$ NJ or CT aren't much cheaper. PA can be tho(closest dealer was too far). I got mine done in Danbury, CT and only got that price because I got quoted 2yrs prior and my name was on file, otherwise it would have been $700 over the rail.

Crazy !

PS My local Dodge dealer does Rhino liner and quoted me $650 over the rail. I feel I made out, without driving too far.
