Default RE: Hesitation on cold

I have a 97 dodge ram, and when i go out to start it after not drivin in a few hours it hesitates to start pretty bad. it happens every time, but if i start it, shut it off, then try to start it again, it starts up rite away. it even starts fine if i turn the key to where it trys to start, then let go, then turn it again, it fires rite up. and sometimes when i start it, before i shift into drive, it idles rough. does anyone know what i could do to fix this?

I had the same issue with my '04 5.7 Hemi, but would do it more below 50F.

I replaced the EGR valve ($40 O'Rielly's) You have to do a computer reboot or will continue acting up.

1. Remove #23 fuse
2. Turn key to on (Not Start)
3. Wait for lights to go out
4. Turn key to Start and hold until 2 beeps. (about 10sec)
5. Reinstall fuse and start, 1st time it wont respond, 2nd time will start.

Hope this fixes your issue.
