I have a feeling you are pretty far south.

I am in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.

Thanks for the offer though.

Looks like a 10 minute job.

Do I need to drain all the fluid and refill, or can I just clamp the hoses?

might as well swap all the PS fluid out while you are in there. it isnt much. quart or two maybe. just point the hoses into a bucket and crank the wheel back and forth a couple times. connect your new cooler, and top it off. crank back and forth a couple more times, and top back off.

thats what i would do at least.

edit: use ATF+4 for PS fluid.

20 dollar part from PepBoys and it includes hoses.

70 dollars from dealer.

Any issues to expect with PepBoys part or should I pony up for OEM?

I have yet to check eBay for OEM parts.

Hi guys,

I bought a Universal Power Steering Cooler yesterday from O'Reilleys because PepBoys now tells me it is now a dealer only part. $24 after taxes.

I think the dealer wanted $90 or something for the cooler. I have no problem paying that if the Universal won't fit/work properly.

Will I have any issues with this Universal cooler?

Anything specific I should do when I remove it, other than drain all the fluid by turning the wheel back and forth a few times with the hose unclamped?

I plan to perform this tomorrow morning.

Thanks,
J
