Just to be safe, check the axle seals. Usually shows up on the inside diameters of the wheels. I've had the right rear seal replaced on mine not too long after I bought it, but its been good since then
nahh none of them , and the exhaust is dumped way before the axles .
it is the oil smell . found out it was just the excess left on the outside of pumpkin . that **** smells . powerwashed it and all is good . just a lil excess on the outer cover and from the axle from changing it .
The diff oil smell is from the GL-5 additive. very distinct smell yes.
no hate to diagree but i've been around 90 weight gear oil "for semi's" Since the late70's no additive's and no lsd's. This was straight gear oil, and it's also when my dad leaned his axles for proper lubrication too the wheel bearings. And it's the same smell .imo.
back on topic like I said earlier rh it has asmell even the smallest amount will stink up any laundry basket. Glad you found it gro. good work.
