Default Ram 1500 4x4 front end ??

Ram QC 1500 4x4 2005.

Truck has 60 000km ( 40 000 miles) and the dealer says it needs wheel bearings, lower ball joints and outer tie rod ends.
I have driven the truck from new basically commuting and very light use with no off roading or even significant towing.

Is this normal or should I suspect BS?

Either the truck is a total POS or the dealer is trying to scam me?

Could always find an independent shop for a second opinion or take your wheels off and check yourself. These issues vary so much. I've got 130,000 miles on my original wheel bearings, ball joints, and tie rods. No problems at all with them. I use the truck as a work truck. Been off road and have banged it up pretty good. Sure they will need replacing eventually but every truck is different. How much did they say it would cost you to replace all that?

better yet be glad it's an 05 the 06=08 are on back order worldwide. back on topic, ^^ as he said easy enough too check , . Jack up a tire and grab hold first top and bottom, rock the tire inward top, and bottom, if loose, bearings, then side to side,if loose, tie rod ends. granted you may have the same looseness when you check the top and bottom but the camber and caster are usually affected by other factors where toe in and toe out is strictly tie rod. ends.

I just bought my 2007 with 41,000 and it is a very clean truck! The dealer gave me the repair sheet and it showed they put outer tie rods on.

My first set of hub bearings went out at 30,000 miles. So it is very possible that yours are as well! Try ebay for cheap hubs from a Mopar dealer. I have noticed lots of guys complaining about ball joints and tierods as well. So good possibility there as well. One thing for sure stay far away from dealer on parts. Use Rock Auto and get Moog front end stuff.
Just an FYI to the guys using push and pull method on the tire to check hub bearings. Even though the bearing appears tight. It still could be bad.

But make sure u get the ball joints and tie rods ends with grease plugs, get them at a parts store not the dealership, i dont think those have grease plugs and in 50k more miles u will probably have to replace again. mine actually came with life time warranty for all the parts

I just got a front end alignment done on my truck along with new outer tie rod ends. My truck is an 07 with 29k miles. The stock outer tie rod ends do not have a nipple so you can fill the lower ball joint with grease. However, these new ones do. Cost me 300 with parts, labor, and front end alignment.
