I wonder if you'd get the best of both worlds by keeping your cut-outs closed until you get up into the higher RPM range, then opening them up. I used to have them on one of my cars and that's how I seemed to get the best times.
Does your raceland not open over 2k? The DMH does, have done it plenty of times on my truck.
From what I've heard it's easy to strip the gears or fry the motor in the cutout if you do open it over 2k because of the exhaust pressure on the flap.

I have heard that before too, but I think it is false. Whatever pressure is pushing against the flap to keep it closed on the one half is also pushing equally on the other half helping it open.

i can open after that but i was going by what i read and heard. like i said though mines stays open
