The Mega cab towing weights are messed up IMO. If you take a 1500 mc hemi w/3.73 and compare it too a 2500 mc hemi w/3.73's there no difference. Both have a 10.5 ring gear, same axles, same frame. Leafs may be bigger on the 2500, but to give it an addition 1000lbs of towing does not make any sense. The info that surfacedreamer listed above is what I have found when I look. But my door says 8510lbs, here is a link for the 2008 towing guide. http://www.trailerlife.com/images/di...wGuide0801.pdf

Those leafs make a HUGE difference. That was kind of my point though, I don't see why Dodge made a 1500 MC, they should've just stuck with 2500/3500s. That's just my opinion from the marketing/business stand point.

I agree, the 1500 mc was just ripping off the 2500 mc hemi. 08 is the last year of 1500 mc!

Ok - installed the hitch and 82207253AB 7-way trailer tow wiring harness in my 06 MC. Don't have an electric brake controller yet however I have already purchased the e-brake harness. This leads me to my next question.

The 82207253AB 7-way trailer tow wiring harness leads a blue wire (electric brake) to the front of the vehicle and has you stow it under the dash. My truck DOES have the blue mating connecter on the driver side under the dash even though the truck didn't come with trailer tow wiring installed.

My question:

How and where should I be connecting the blue wire (electric brake) from the rear of the vehicle? Do I splice it into the blue mating connector under the dash? Does it go straight to the controller? Should the blue mating connector under the dash be live even if I didn't have factory installed trailer wiring?

Just trying to understand what the next steps are. Thanks in advance!

you are going to want to connect that blue wire to the harness under the dash some how. but since you already have that harness under there, see if you can follow the wires to see if there is one at teh rear of the vehicle already.

Spent a few minutes this morning doing some tracing and the blue mating connector under the dash routes to the fuse panel in the engine compartment. My thought is that I should route the wire and connect it there. Any tricks to attaching anything at that fuse panel that anybody is aware of?

If you have the Blue Brake Controler pluge under the dash and do not have the trailer tow option (the 7 pin plug). Then you will need to cut the Dark Green 14 gage wire comming out of cavaty "B" of the blue connector under the dash and connect your blue wire from the kit to it.

You will then need a Brake Controller specific harness that goes from the Blue connector to your brake controller of choice (I would get the P3 by Tekensha)

Edit:

But it would be easier to cut the blue wire on the brake controller harness and connect your blue wire there as trying to get up under the dash to cut the Dark Green one will be a PIA
