Default got new gears and tru trac

I got 4.10 gear and a true trac installed. got product from moes it was missing paperwork from true trac left a message they never called back. i got motive gears it does make a little noise at 45 to 55 other than that everything is perfect. i will keep up with mileage and post. cant wait to tow boat. Ths forum has great info and i appreciate everyones help. My first problem was truck dieing at slow speeds. i have a 05 qc 2 wheel drive hemi. i read about the computer fix and took it to dealer the guy acted like u cant believe nothing on internet. later he called and said there was a update for that and he could fix for 65 dollars. I went ahead and had a tune up and shorty wires put on. great forum and hemi all the way

make sure you change the fluids and break them in correctly

keep a listen at that whine! Properly installed gears should NOT whine at all, no matter what anyone tells you. Also, there are those who will say to drive it like you stole it from day one and although the "Randy's Ring and Pinion" 500 mile break-in might be a little over-kill, it is imperative that you start off with intermittent heating and cooling cycles on those gears!

Getting the break in oil out at about 500 miles is important as well. Good luck and keep us posted...

I set trip odometer and at 500 miles i'm going to have fluid changed and have gears adjusted to get whine out of it. If sound gets worse i will go sooner. I have the motive gears and alot people say there loud i don't now but i am going to keep watch on them. 4.10 awsome gear so far i got stock 17 tires not really much difference in driving except power comes much quicker.

When I had my rear end replaced it made the same whine at the same speed. The guy who did mine has done gears for 23 yrs. He kept the truck for a week trying to figure out why it made that same noise at the same speed. He even called other rear end guys. He believes that it is just the harmonics of the gears. The old factory gear set did it to it was just quiter. I haven't had any issues. I've put about 20,000 miles on them and i tend to have a heavy foot sometimes. like at lights. Keep a close ear on it. If the sound changes or the rear starts acting funny (like making popping sounds and feels like gears are skipping) take it back to the shop.

Im with Hammer. The gears shouldnt make any noise. Noise is only caused by improper alignment in the mesh of the ring & pinion gears.
Motive makes many of Fords gearsets. I doubt that is the issue.

I believe it may be the gears, My mechanic is very qualified, just seems odd everbody with this sound has motive gears. I am going to keep a close ear on them though. Then again it could be an adjustment that has to be extremely precise for good mechanics to miss. Pulled boat yesterday 2o' pontoon took it to ramp where i coulldn't unload boat last time due to my wheel spin. Score one for tru trac it pulled perfect no problems

For years, Motives were considered the best of the aftermarket gears. As a matter of fact, when I got my Genuine Gears, I was not yet a member here, but ALL the members on another forum who responded to my thread told me I was making a mistake NOT getting Motives!
Lately though, I've heard a lot of people having an issue with Motives, including a few on here who have had to have them yanked...

I've read so many of these threads about noise etc.
Everything from poor break in, to incorrectly set up, to manufacturer of the gear sets, harmonics, and also different materials and hardness of the aftermarket gears.
I've yet to see anyone who's had noise post up to say, it's been sorted by re-adjusting or anything else for that matter?
Al.
