Default Replace Engine Oil Base Pan

Anybody know if this can be done by a diy'er? I've heard different opinions from "It's a piece of cake" to "you have to raise the engine"! I wanna do an oil change and I think I've pressed my luck long enough with the stock pan - flaking rust everywhere!

Thanks

G

No takers eh? I know I seen a thread on this a while back but I haven't been able to find it. It may be one of those things where it looks easy but not so when you start to do it. I think I have seen something on another forum where somebody said you have to remove the front cover to release the pan - that seems pretty crazy!

I know I can do it but then I also have all the tools I need to do it if I needed to. IDK the skill level you have but I have the confidence in you that you can manage it. You do not need to remove the front timing cover but you do need to remove the 5 bolts holding the pan to the bottom of the front timing cover as well as the cross member.

Thanks WEED! That seems pretty straight forward to me. I'll have to spray a little wd-40 on those x-member bolts - maybe even have to heat the x-member too. I live in Atlantic Canada and we see ALOT of rust so bolts are sometimes tricky to remove in one piece As a matter of fact, I just recently took off the front tow hooks after letting them bathe in rust check for a bout a week!
