Plus there will be a charge for the install. I would think they would honor a dealership install locally.

I would think the same thing but apprantly that is not the case. It is kind of a crappy policy that the only one who can install their trans is them. Limits the number of people who can take advantage of their warranty.

The reason for their policy is they have the proper tools to check all the pressures and sensors to prevent another failure. It is way to common for bad wiring or sensors, corrupt tune or faulty PCM to destroy a perfectly good transmission without anybody noticing the actual problem. Hopefully the new transmission behaves properly or your process won't be over.

See, that's a very interesting comment from FrostKing with dirtydogs views of how easy it is to install an auto box.
Yes I guess it is physically easy to do an install if everything is OK , but FrostKings post certainly has merit in it imho and If this were me and I'd had so much trouble and expense as ol'DJ.............then I'd let Sharadon do the install, plus all the electronic diagnostics and such making sure everything is OK and within tollerances etc and make sure it was running to my satisfaction, before I left.
Just mho Ol'DJ.
Either way, I wish you good luck with all this.
Al.
