Flushing the Radiator?
Hey all here at DF, got a question about flushing my radiator on a 07 dodge 1500. And I've got a couple mixed responses on when... My manual says 3yrs/60k and the dealer said 5yrs/90k. Talked to a shop and they said 3yrs as well. But the shop price was a little a steep I thought, so i was just going to do my self. Any fancy things that need to be known or is it as simple as older rigs(which i doubt) but just figured I'd some people who own one instead of asking someone who sells a product.
when flushing the radiator, flush the whole system, heater core and all. you will need to find the heater core inlet tube and remove it. flush backward removing all the crude and debris if any. remove the bottom rad hose so all the crap flows into a bucket. and fill with the mopar recommended fluids, and you should be good to go
I've always preferred to drain mine every two years regardless of miles. Coolant can "wear out" eventually and lose its effectiveness.
Unless you're using pre-mixed antifreeze, make sure you use distilled water along with your antifreeze when you refill it. It's only about a buck per gallon. The minerals in tap water are reactive to the aluminum in your motor/radiator and can cause corrosion problems.

Here's the one I bought.

Also, take out your old T-Stat and reconnect the hose before flushing as well as letting the block drain from the drain plugs, there are two (2).
Make sur you purge the system 100% of all air. Lastly, have fun!
