I had 33's on my 88 ram and i cut the side out one on my way in the woods at around 4.30 in the morning. My spare was only a 235 and i went about 30 kms in the woods, even had to put it in 4wd, which i don't recommend, to get up one hill. I took it easy in 4wd but it was hard to even get it in and out of 4wd. Anyways, i made it in and out with no problems. Drove the truck for a couple years after and it is actually still going yet. For the person that said they have 33's with a 285 spare, aren't they pretty much the same size?

apparently people dont know the difference in sizing. 285 is the WIDTH in millimeters. the second number is what gives the height. Its a percentage of the width. For instance, 285/70/20 would mean the height of the sidewall is 70% of 285mm. 285/70/20 and 285/30/17 are both 285, but have several inches in height difference.

Which is why I went with a 305/50R20...it's the same diameter as the OEM 275/55R20, which what my full size spare is.
