Trade up or not?

Trade up or not?
Hey guys, I am new to the site. I have a 04 1500 qc hemi sport with 80k in great shape and thinking of trading up to a mc with hemi. Would like the extra room but mainly trying to offset the costs of modding my 04 with things like torsion keys, rear air bags, new 20 inch tires and the list goes on. I tow a 28 ft enclosed trailer in the summer and snowmobile trailers in winter so mainly used for this otherwise parked throughout the week. This thing is a dog while towing so thought about gear changes and a programmer with intake and exhaust. Will the mc chassis and hemi do the trick? Not sure of the gear ratio in the mega but it is a 07 laramie. Would like a ctd but not sure for the extra jing. Are the mc hemi as much of a pig on fuel as my o4 or not? Any info would make the decision much easier so I can stop pulling out my hair! Was told the 03-04 models seemed tougher than the newer models but think it is all opinion.

As for the fuel, the MC is probably worse. As for the gearing, alot came w/ 3.73's, the lucky ones got 4.10's(ahem..rh). You're probably gonna feel a power loss due to the fact that the MC out weighs your QC by quite a bit. But, all you'ld have to do is throw some bigger gears in it. I'm looking into 4.56's for mine( I wasn't one of the lucky ones). Is the MC you're looking at a 1500 or 2500?

I used to have an 05 1500 qc 4x4 hemi, now the mc (see sig). Prior to this year I pulled a 28ft rv bumper pull, and loaded up my 700 Grizzly in the truck. My mega cab pulls that load better than my 05 did. But that could be due to suspension, empty the 05 was way better on fuel. Pulling the mc is better on fuel than the 05. But if you are lucky you will get the 4.10's in your mc. My 05 had 3.92 gears in it rated for 8400lbs towing, my mega with 3.73's is rated for like 7500lbs. But the mc does pull a load way better, I just bought a 34 ft bumper and another quad, so if I my rear end crashes then she is getting 4.56's. Diesels are great, but in todays day I would never buy one. At work we had an 07 6.7L cummins that had some issues, it cost the company 11k to put in injectors, warrenty would not cover it due to bad fuel. go figure. Get a Mega Cab, they are sweet, just make sure you get the 4.10's.

Thanks for the info. I will be more particular with my choise and try to find one with the 4.10. A friend of mine has a 05 2500 with a hemi and is a roofing contractor. I have seen him load a skid of shingles in the back and pull a loaded dump trailer very well so this is why I was thinking of a 2500 for the power and chassis to go!
