DriveShaft Meets Diff Housing Leak Help?
So I've had nothing but a gear whine since my 4wheelparts (Santa Ana[LOST my business and all I mention to]) gear install. When I had my friends Mechanic help me with my first rear diff oil swap we noticed their mickey mouse china oil they used as break in oil. A nice layer of glittery oil at the bottom but luckily no metal chunks. And when I swapped my shocks out to the RS9000XL's I've had sitting around for too long I noticed my housing looking a little like this, any thoughts ? Crush Sleeve?
Sorry for the read, here's the pic's:

Very very slow leak as you can see by the bead of oil at the bottom of the diff.

Thanks.

rear pinion seal. not too bad of a fix. some people say that overfillin the pumpkin will cause this. drop the driveshaft, take off the nut than pull the seal out. when puttin in the new one try to knock it in even, with a 2x4 layin across it or something. dont wanna get it in a bind
yup, pinion seal. But let it go to long and it will ruin your inner seal and then your gears will be shot. Just happened to me however I had a good experience with 4 wheel parts and they replaced the gears themselves for free just had to pay labor and $14 for the seal.

The sparklies are normal for break-in, but I don't know why they didnt change that seal when they did the gear install??? Did you not have them do all the bearings while they were in there?
I'm sure you already know, but there should be no whine with gears, if anything....so mild you would have to make it make noise.

Read your post. Yeah, I'm screwed then. I wouldn't doubt it at all if they just hit it with an air-gun. And after I went back after the 500mi break in, this is where I got my BAD (HORRIBLE) taste for them. I decided to wait there while they did the "check up" I saw that the main Mechanic didn't like that. I was out of there in an hour and a half . . . They didn't even break the pumpkin back open, I know, I was there (watching). And when I told them about the grind noise (And whine from the bearings around 45-50mph) we went for a drive near a walled area (the noise bounced back clearer) and he just said it was the drive-shaft rotating faster and that his wife's truck had the same issue, taller tires would solve it
Think if I went back there (3500-4000mi later) now, that they'd even bother with me, or just give me the run around? Because if not them I'm just going to start saving up for Moe's kit: DTT+Gears+Kit and go to a shop that DirtyJohn has recommended (He takes 2 days if he needs to, to make it perfect supposedly
).
Once again sorry for the read. Guess I wont be satisfied from this point on unless it's a flawless job.

Then, I would go to a different qualified shop and let them know what the whole situation has been and have them document it. Have them diagnose your problem and let them repair anything and everything that needs to be fixed and make sure they save the bad parts if any.
Then, I would take 4wparts to small claims court and you will win as long as you have stayed within your agreement terms and they have not.
After the "new" shop has done all the work needed, I would have another shop give you an estimate of all the repair expenses this way you have plenty of proof that what you have paid out of pocket for the expense 4wdparts should have covered is legitimate and not over inflated because that will be the big question in court.
I go to court for reasons of principle only, not because of the money, but since we are talking a few hundred bucks just for labor plus materials, that makes it worth your while even more so. I would not let it go because they will continue tod do this to others. I haqve a feeling you aren't vocal enough with these badazzes and you need to walk in their like you own the joint if they aren't taking you seriously. Threaten to report them to the BBB(better busines bereau) and that a number of thier customers come from forum websites that you have a lot of pull in.
The guy telling you the driveshaft spins faster than whatever...what a dousche. It's gonna spin faster regardles and going bigger tires makes it spin even faster than the tires...lmao. Total clown that guy and I would have jumped all over him on his .02
If you have been denied or passed over twice for a similar problem, i would juyst go elsewhere's and you have every right to, but you do need to allow them to fix the issue first so that means you need to go back and get denied a 2nd time before you go elsewhere's.

sorry to hear about your problems. i absolutely HATE 4wheelparts. i recently bought my superchips from them. only because they would price match cabelas sale, and i wanted it that day. i listened to the guy go on for 20 min about how i should never change my shift points or anything with the tranny. its setup PERFECTLY from the factory. and if i change it even one little bit, its going to blow up for sure. after he was done blowing hot air, i called him a tool and left.
