Default gears grinding??

alright well, the jist of it :
when my truck goes from third to fourth gear, it makes a horrible metal screetching sound. i took a buddy of mine out that is much more knowlegable of cars, and said it sounded like gears grinding, only thing was it wasn't as LOUD as he normally heard gears grind at.

then we did a little experiment, turned took my superchip and put the truck back to stock tunning. didn't get the screetch from 3rd - 4th.

any imput would be great, put all future mods on hold till i figured out this problem

Did you notice any difference in the shift from 3rd to 4th? Could be the clutch pack screetching from the raised the line pressure of the superchips. It may be wore to point where its close to metal on metal... I'm just throwing some ideas out there. I am in no way a transmission mechanic. just trying to help out. good luck

Have you done any maintenace on the trans recently? If so did you notice anything in the oil or color or burnt smell? Do you have a burnt smell now? If it was me I would drop the pan and have a look at the oil to see if any debris can be detected. Change the filters and generally do the whole service. Getting any codes? If you still have a problem, find a trusted transmission shop and have them look at it. Good luck...

no trans maintenace, no burnt smell, no codes besides p0113. i'm prob just gonna take it to a trans shop ... the sound is getting horrible now it wouldn't be smart to let it ride any longer.

Hey I just put a superchips 3815 and I have noticed the same thing. So if you find anything out please post. The only thing that I have done is the tuner.
Thanks
Aaron

nope, the only time i hear the noise is from 3rd to 4th.
havn't updated it lately, however i heard the noise with all stock setting last night. so i ruled out superchip being the problem

Ok, i believe i would take it to a transmission shop and let them test drive it and see what they think about it.
