Default Just bought a new '05

I've been shopping around for a certified pre-owned, but one thing led to another and I ended up ordering a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi QC SLT 4x4 with the tow group and off road package. It has a few other options, but nothing else that is too major. It came to $27,100 after rebates, but since I ordered it from WA and I live in Hawaii it will cost an extra $900 shipping.

Anyways, I'm pretty excited about getting it. I was wondering if I can swap out the exhaust without causing any warranty problems? Can the cold air intake also be added without any other warranty problems?

I've added cool air intakes on my leases before, and no warr problems. You'll have to change it before the lease is over. If you ever had a major problem, I'd change back to the regular filter before going in for service. This way it's one less thing for them to say...

unless the stealership can prove that what you added DIRECTLY caused the problem then there is no issue on warranty

Drew is correct as usual, but it can't hurt to talk to your dealership/service dept. about it and see who you're dealing with. When i spoke with mine they were pretty cool about adding aftermarket bolt-ons.

Thanks for the tips. I just want it to breathe a little better and sound like I think a V8 should.

What about leveling kits? Could that be blamed for damaging any suspension components? It's not quite as easy to pull off prior to going to the dealership like cold air injection. Does anyone know if leveling kits are available for '05 models?

again it is a game of chance with leveling kits. every vehicle has inherent problems. the leveling kit may cause it to show up quicker, or depending on which kit you get my solve any problem that may happen.

but then again, if the dealership installs it for you your warranty is still intact since most kits like this do not void the warranty. and if anything does fail it should be repaired under warranty since the dealership put it on.

now, if your like me and do your own stuff, you'll learn quick that you have to be your own warranty station. which doesnt bother me. where I work has presses and every tool I would need to rebuild the suspension or any part of either of my trucks
