Default 2005 Hemi Computer Locked!!!!

Today I got a call from the wife saying the truck won’t start. Asked her what happened and she said it started fine the idled ruff and died. She cranked it again and same thing. She tried it the third time and now it won’t even do anything. She called the dealer and told them what happened (lightning bolt and security light on) and they said that she locked the computer and it won't do anything without unlocking it. Dealer said they are having lots of problems with this right now. Asked if there is a recall or anything, dealer said "nope, do you have extended warrantee"? So now I have to pay a tow truck and $100 deductible because of this stupid computer crap again. Still have a bad taste in my mouth about the trailer lights not working because the "computer messed up".

Has anyone ever heard of this before?

Sorry its a 2006!

Wow man, that is absolute bolognia! Ive never even hear of that before? I'd go down there and talk to one of the techs, or the general manager about what it's going to cost to fix... if any, and if it's something you can fix, before you go spend all this money getting your truck all the way down there. Can you reboot the pcm, or restart it?

I have heard of this when a non-chipped key is used. It is part of the security mechanism.

Is her key one from the dealer, a gray key, or is it a cheap one from the hardware store? If it is a cheap one, and you have never had a problem with your key, this may be the issue.

never heard that one before. Lightning bolt a lot of times means an issue with the throttle body sticking, a bad MAP sensor, or a bad APP sensor. Then again, its an 06, so I really don't know.

No they said once its locked only the dealer can unlock it. Don't have any idea why it would lock like that. She did say when it started that it was ruff idle. Could be a combination of the TPS and the security key.

Is the truck at the dealer yet? If not I'd try resetting the PCM, checking the TB, heck even try reseting the TPS. It wont cost you anything except some of your time. If it really is a "computer lockout" then yea Chrysler probably needs to hook up their little DRB tool and reset the comp.

Thanks guys for the info. I have been reading on the internet and ran across the fix. The computer thought the truck was being stolen and activated the security. The fix was to take the good key and put it in the driver door and lock it then unlock it. She started right up and is running fine.

Now to find out why the other key wont work.

Good thing the dealer told you only they could fix it. Probably would have charged you $800 to do what you just did lol.
